Rectangular loose lower body garment made with non-violent Eri silk. Silk fibres harvested by hand. Handwoven. Hand finished by artisans.
The antarīya is a loose lower body garment that was worn by both men and women in ancient India. It is known to us as the dhoti of today. This uttarīya is made with Eri silk, a rare, ethical silk native to the lush landscapes of Assam, Nagaland, and Meghalaya in India. Derived from the Assamese word "era", meaning castor, it is spun from silkworms that feed on the leaves of the castor plant. Unlike conventional silk, Eri silk cocoons are open-ended, allowing the moth to emerge naturally. This gentle process leaves the silkworm unharmed — making Eri a symbol of compassion and conscious luxury. Soft, breathable, and rich in texture, Eri silk reflects our belief that elegance need not come at the cost of life.

Each piece is handcrafted and truly one of a kind. Slight variations in construction, fabric, or colour are natural characteristics of handspun and handloom materials, and handcrafted products. These are not flaws, but rather signatures of the handmade process. They are a testament to the individuality and character of each garment.
